CATHEDRAL DIOCESAN MUSEUM
Pamplona Cathedral (Access via C/. Dormitaleria, 3)
Established in 1960 and remodelled in 1995 by the architects Luis Tena and Javier Zulategui, the museum occupies areas that originally served the Cathedral community; the refectory, kitchen and storage cellars. The museum tour includes the Cloister, the Barbazana Chapel and the recently restored Cathedral, built in the Gothic style of the 14th and 15th centuries with later additions in the form of a Neoclassical entrance designed by the architect Ventura Rodriguez and a Rococo sacristy.

CHURCH OF SANTA MARIA DE EUNATE
Muruzabal
Built in a Proto-Gothic style around 1170 on the Pilgrim’s Route to Santiago this harmonious and attractive building has origins either as a hospice of the Order of St. John or as a cemetery church for pilgrims that died on the way. It is an octagonal building with an exterior Cloister and is completed by a semicircular apse which unusually, is pentagonal in plan.

ROYAL PALACE OF OLITE
Plaza de Carlos III el Noble
Olite
Recognised as one of the most interesting secular Gothic buildings in Europe, the Royal Palace of Olite was the official residence of Navarran kings until the union with Castile in 1512. Built upon the remains of the ancient Roman "Praesidium of Oligitum" it underwent several transitions during the 13th -14th centuries but its greatest development took place under Carlos III, (the noble king), in the 15th century who attracted to his court craftsmen from throughout Spain and Europe.

MONASTERY OF IRACHE
Ayegui
Documents from the year 958 show this Benedictine Monastery to be already in existence and its situation on the Pilgrim’s Route, the Camino de Santiago, meant that it developed rapidly under the patronage of the Royal Crown of Navarra. In the 11th century it prospered further by being converted into a hospice by King Garcia of Najera under the direction of the powerful Abbot Veremundo. Its splendour was reflected by the construction in the 12th century of the abbey in Romanesque and Transitional style.

MUSEUM OF RONCESVALLES
Orreaga-Roncesvalles
Houses a collection of religious art from the Royal Collegiate Church of Santa Maria which includes carvings, exquisite woven cloths, ancient coins, original manuscripts and a large number of religious vessels in gold and silver, many ornamented with precious stones.

HOUSE-MUSEUM OF JULIAN GAYARRE
C/. Arena
Roncal Villa
Adapted by the architect Luis Tena into a museum, the house in which the operatic tenor, Julian Gayarre Garjon (1844-1890) was born now houses an exhibition of his personal objects and correspondence. His mausoleum is in the local cemetery and is notable for the outstanding sculpture by the artist Mariano Benlliure.

MUSEUM OF JAVIER CASTLE
Javier
Dating from the 10th century and the birthplace of San Francisco Xavier, the castle was converted into a museum in 1986 and houses objects depicting the saint’s life. In addition to its role as a defensive fortress it was used from the 16th century as a residence by many influential Navarran families among whom were the Aznarez, Artieda and Jaso-Azpilicueta.
