By air
With the completion of the
airport in 1972, El Hierro was opened up to air traffic and a new sort
of tourism. There are three flights nearly every day connecting El Hierro
to Los Rodeos on Tenerife; there are two a week to Gran Canaria.
By sea
The harbour of La Estaca
has roll-on, roll-off facilities for the Trasmediterranea Company's ferries
which operate on the route from Los Cristianos (Tenerife) four times a
week.
Some tour operators offer
package tours to El Hierro, but those who wish to travel independently
can make reservations in any travel agency. Should you be on holiday on
another island, it is always easy to book a trip for a few days to El Hierro.
